Phil is Senior Lead at Durham’s Education Development Service, which is made up of a team of full-time school improvement professionals working across the north east region of the UK. Attached to Durham County Council, EDS is an award-winning organisation with many years’ experience of providing exemplary support to every kind of educational institution. After working in creative media and design, Phil trained to teach in secondary schools. He has wide experience of teaching English and Drama from ages 11 to 18, and has worked at both mid leader and senior leader positions in several schools. Since moving to EDS he has designed and facilitated leadership programmes across the UK and in Europe. He is an accredited coach and facilitator with the National College, and holds a number of advisory positions with a range of educational institutions. His involvement with The Coldest Journey stems from contact made with Sir Ranulph Fiennes through one of Durham’s International Leadership Conferences. Phil is married with two children. He lives in Darlington.
